The mainstream media has just discovered that healthy, functional adults buy and collect toys. And their heads explode. Yet somehow, Hasbro and Mattel don’t always listen to this growing market demographic. I guess “kidult” is preferable to “nerd” or “geek.” Maybe?
All three are given by people with malicious intent. There is no good to be had from any of them.
Nah
I prefer the term adult man babies
I’m a geek and proud of it.
I have a vast collection which I’m quite proud of.
I prefer both geek and nerd. I am proudly both. No kidult here…
I’m 21 and I love collect video game plushies like sonic and Mario
I got myself some more Pokemon and Sanrio plushies back in November as I like how they make my room look. I’m a grown adult who spends his time however he pleases. No one can tell be otherwise.
No,no,no don’t touch me there that is my no,no square! Lol
Yeah Matt Walsh had a horrible take on this.
We have drag queens shaking their junk in children’s faces, and THIS is what society decides to condemn…
Isn’t adults collecting toys an old thing by now? Several decades old even? Why are they bringing it up now?
My Grandfather worked 40 years in a factory, he paid a mortgage and raised a large family of mostly girls, but I guess according to people like Matt Walsh he wasn’t a “real man” because he’d collected 1000’s of Matchbox cars in his adult life. His den, which was slightly bigger than a walk in closet and the only space in the house that was his had a recliner chair, a TV, and shelves covered in Matchbox cars. Men just aren’t allowed to have a hobby that brings them joy, I guess.
I used to love those Mego action figures from the 70’s but they always broke so easily I must have gone thru at least 6 Spideys and various Planet of the Apes characters. The later Star Trek ones were a little sturdier. Was also a big fan of the Big Jim series.
Man, they REALLY are disconected from their customers. Sure, parents will buy toys for their very young kids and they would be fine with pretty much anything but older ones will stay with 2 or 4 at most from their absolute favorite shows and the rest is used in digital media. Current adults are more willing to get those collectible toys and even the ones aimed for kids just for the sake of completing their collection. If the western industry just realized that collectors are still a thing they really are not paying fucking attention to the insanelly profitable anime figures bussines.
I may grow old, but I will never grow up. That’s the way of PERFECTION. And JAGIELSKI is PERFECTION. @UltimatePerfection.
I can now have all the transformers my parents couldn’t afford to get me when I was a kid
Unfortunately, modern technology has made life worse for kids. A lot worse. As for whether or not I would see some kids play with toys instead of tech…remains to be seen
At my desk I have two stuff animals. One is a sloth and the other is a small orange fox that is a ball with a tail. I see nothing wrong with them, the sloth was given to me when I was in the hospital and the fox I found walking to work. I also have a number of spinners and a fidget cube for my autism.
It’s my goal to have a complete original version of every final fantasy game (including manuals and ad inserts). So far I’ve been able to acquire 6-15 but now the hunt really begins for the oldest games
